Family FAQ'S

Please email us at firstchoicenannies.tx@gmail.com or call us at 512-337-7290  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We charge a  deposit for long term placements. This deposit helps us cover costs for job postings, candidate screenings, interviews and more.

Family registration fees apply to new families seeking occasional care/short term care. This helps us cover fees such as background check fees, candidate screenings, candidate vetting, candidate profile maintenance and more.

There is no exact time frame. Every family is different. On average, it can take anywhere between 4 days to 12 weeks to place a nanny. Sometimes, the right candidate is the very first candidate. Sometimes it can take a little longer. It usually depends on various factors, such as job location, hours and requirements for the nanny, family response time etc. Generally, if we don't seem to attract matching candidates, we will consult with you to see what we can do to make the position more desirable.

Yes and no. We usually have nannies available, who have been pre-screened and might've already worked for some of our clients. BUT we don't believe in a "one shoe fits all" theory. A nanny, who is a great fit for one family might not be a fit at all for another. We'd be happy to check if we have someone available in your area, but can not guarantee it will be a fit until we start the process and can re-interview the candidate to see if they are a fit for you.

We work hard to weed out unfitting candidates so you don't have to. On average, a family will interview 2-4 candidates.

Absolutely! We are here on every step of the way. We have a free parent interview handbook available for you to use as well!

Yes. The minimum salary for a nanny or sitter is $20/h, depending on number of children and duties expected.  If you are unsure of what to offer, please feel free to ask us.

Yes, if your nanny makes more than the IRS maximum per year. This does not apply to on call sitters. You can find information about nanny taxes and payroll here.

Your nanny will be taking care of your most precious possession: your kids! Of course you would like to offer her a fair salary. Benefits are usually offered for full time nannies. Benefits can be things  like sick days, PTO,  Holiday pay, a health stipend etc. We will cover this during our consultation call!

We work hard to place you with a nanny, who is a unique fit for your family. In the rare case that a placement does not work out, we provide all of our clients with a guarantee period. Within this period, we will replace your nanny completely free of charge! If the guarantee period if over, please speak to us! We might still be able to give you a discount on your next placement.

As long as you did not hire someone yet, we can make changes to the job description. Please keep in mind that this will postpone the placement. If you have already hired a nanny, please communicate changes to both the nanny and the agency. Changes might require a different placement fee and/or changes in the employment contract. If you need to change the entire job description and it causes the nanny not to be able to work the job any longer, we will need to start the placement process from the beginning, as this is not covered by the guarantee period.

We hire our nannies from different job platforms, social media, college job boards, our agency job board, personal referrals and more!

No. We work hard to place every family with a matching nanny as soon as possible, but sometimes this process can take a little longer. We want to make sure you are happy with your nanny, and are here to help, no matter how much time you need.

We try to keep our monthly/yearly membership prices low! To ensure we'll always have highly qualified sitters available, we charge a small booking fee to cover admin expenses. This allows our sitters to receive their full payment, which again leads to higher qualified sitters!

Nanny/Sitter FAQ'S

Please email us at firstchoicenannies.tx@gmail.com or call us at 512-337-7290  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No! There will never be fees for our sitters and nannies! We will never charge you or take any part of your

You can find available jobs on our job board. If you can't find anything that interests you, please reach out! We have new opportunities all the time. Sitter jobs will not be posted on our website.

Yes and no. It always depends on the family. Some of our families don't feel comfortable with an additional child in their home for various reasons, while other families are hoping for a nanny with a child around the same age as their own.

We encourage all our sitters to keep their CPR and First Aid certificate up to date. A lot of families are specifically seeking sitters who are certified. Nannies are always required to hold a valid CPR and First Aid certificate, at least one day before the first day of employment.

Yes please! We love our nannies and love staying connected! Often times, our nannies will come back for a new job once their nanny children no longer need a nanny.

Yes. A clean background check and driving record is essential as a nanny or sitter. Some of our positions may also require a drug screening.

It depends on your job. All long-term nannies will be paid directly by the family. Families will typically set up a payroll for you and provide you with a w2. If you are a sitter, you will work for different families and will be paid by the end of your shift either through our sitter plattform, cash or an app such as venmo or paypal. NEVER leave without your payment.

The only time you will be paid from us is if you are booked by a client for an event and it is more convenient for the client to pay all his fees together.

No! We advocate for both our families and nannies/sitters! It is our goal for you and the family to always feel safe and heard. So we are here for you whenever you need us.
